Thinking About Buying a Pop-Up Camper? Consider This…

Thinking About Buying a Pop-Up Camper? Consider This…

We often joke that buying our first pop up camper was the best and worst decision that we ever made. And it really was. It was the best decision because discovering the RVing lifestyle was a life changing series of moments for our family. It was the worst decision because we bought the wrong pop up camper. Yup, we are one of the statistics. We bought a shiny new pop up camper with all of the bells and whistles for over $10,000. What we should have bought was a used one, for maybe $2,000 or $3,000 tops. We spent way too much money only to... Read More

So Parenting Is Hard…Now What? (answer involves the great outdoors)

So Parenting Is Hard…Now What? (answer involves the great outdoors)

I’ve been noticing something lately. The more I read the blog posts that are liked and shared and tweeted and pinned, the more I am seeing a pattern emerge. There are a lot of moms talking about being moms. Mostly they are talking to other moms. And the message seems to be something along the lines of… It’s okay. You are going to make it through this. Even though you are worn out; even though you feel wrecked. You yelled at your kids today, but you also hugged them. They threw a wild temper tantrum in the middle of... Read More

Monster Jam vs. Lively Little Campers (Spoiler Alert: We Lost)

Monster Jam vs. Lively Little Campers (Spoiler Alert: We Lost)

I have a confession. I was one of those 28 year olds who swore I would never get sucked in to all that kid junk. You know the type–the non-parent who swears they will always be far too cool to play Raffi on loop in the car or stand with their head through the cut out hole of a wooden penguin at the zoo, acting all, yeah, haha, I really look like a penguin. I’m pretty sure I assumed (pre-children) that parents brought their kids to places like Storybook Land because they felt they had to. They were doing their due diligence,... Read More

This is How the Summer Ends….See You Next Year, Cape May

Getting the best site at Seashore Campsites…  Walking towards the sunset… Hanging with the Wes Man…  Playing on the beach… *** *** *** *** Playing hide and seek… Shutting down the pool for the season… Searching for Monarch Butterflies at “Butterfly Beach”… And finding them… *** Eating gummy frogs… Sharing ice cream at “the point”… *** Spotting dolphins swimming by… And going for one last ocean swim… Thank you Cape... The Curse of Hawk Mountain: Two Times is Not a Charm

The Curse of Hawk Mountain: Two Times is Not a Charm

Two years ago, in late October, we took Max and Theo to Allentown for a long weekend. It was beautiful. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the Lehigh Valley Zoo and a great train ride through the country. There was pumpkin picking and a halloween parade. Quintessential fall weekend, etc, etc. We figured we would squeeze in one more activity before heading home on Sunday, so we drove (camper hitched and all) to Hawk Mountain, where we planned on a taking in a raptor show and enjoying a nice hike. Ha. Maybe they were tired from the weekend.... Read More

The Last Great Hayride: Allentown KOA, Pennsylvania

The Last Great Hayride: Allentown KOA, Pennsylvania

We had another lovely stay at the Allentown KOA last weekend.  It served as a convenient base camp for exploring the gently rolling hills and picture perfect farms of the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania.  The campground itself is deeply wooded and tucked away, far from traffic. A gentle stream also meanders through the property and many of the sites rest directly on its banks.  We were travelling with our good friends again and we had booked “buddy sites” so our campers could face each other, creating a large common area in...
