Campground Review #63 My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown, Kentucky

On this episode of Campground of the Week, our guest correspondent Casita Dean reviews My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown, Kentucky. Dean is a big fan of the Kentucky State Parks system and wholeheartedly recommends their network of campgrounds, lodges, cabins, golf courses, and restaurants.

Campground Details

My Old Kentucky Home State Park is a small, quaint campground on the outskirts of Bardstown, Kentucky, hosting only 39 RV sites which can be reserved via Reserve America for between $25-$30. 36 of those are back-ins and a precious 3 are pull thru. All sites come with water and electric hook ups, but five offer a sewer connection for an additional $5 fee. Dean recommends splurging for the privilege of dumping at your site.

With the size, pricing, and location of this campground, you can imagine that spots fill up far in advance.

On-site amenities include tennis courts, play equipment, and an adjacent golf course. My Old Kentucky Home State Park contains many visitor attractions including Federal Hill Mansion house tours, a visitors center, and The Stephen Foster Story outdoor drama. Listen to hear Dean’s insider tips for getting the most out of your visit to this charming campground.

Area Attractions

Dean also talks about some of the local activities and dining that he and his wife Laura enjoyed while staying at My Old Kentucky Home State Park:

You can also venture a bit farther and enjoy day trips to Lexington and Louisville, just about an hour’s drive away.

Thanks so much to Casita Dean for reviewing this quaint gem of a state park in beautiful Kentucky. And thanks to the Campground of the Week sponsors for supporting weekly RV content for all our camping and RV fools:
