The Crescent City/Redwoods KOA is the perfect basecamp to park your rig while exploring the Redwood National and State Parks. Located just minutes away from Crescent City, there is an old growth redwood grove on the campground property.
We stayed at this KOA while exploring the surrounding Redwoods National and State Parks. So if you want to read all about our recommendations for hikes, beaches, and dining in the area, check out this post.
Campground Details: Crescent City/Redwoods KOA
Crescent City/Redwoods KOA is branded as a Holiday KOA. True to form, it made an ideal basecamp for exploring the local attractions. The campground is only about five minutes from Crescent City and a short 10-15 minute drive to Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, where the famous Stout Grove is located.
This campground property is large with ten acres of Redwoods right onsite. However, the number of sites is limited, so we recommend booking in advance of your arrival. During our stay we saw quite a few campers without reservations arrive only to find a fully-booked campground.
The campsites are a mix of pull thrus and back ins. If you are tenting or have a smaller rig (and don’t require full hook ups), we strongly suggest requesting a spot in the Redwoods grove which was remarkably beautiful. Listen to the episode to hear more details about recommended sites and areas of the campground.

Additional Information about the Crescent City/Redwoods KOA
The cell service was strong during our stay, but the wifi connection was limited, depending on the time of day. One of our favorite features of this campground is the ample information provided about the region by the owner, Kevin. He helped us craft our itinerary every day and offers detailed self-guided tours with maps in the camp office.
Overall, this location offered a lovely mix of private amenities alongside natural beauty.
See you at the campground,
Stephanie + Jeremy
